On  May 17, 2008 the Grand Opening of the Muscle Beach Weight Pen Renovation unveiled a spectacular new look to the World Renown facility.

Joe Wheatley Productions, in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department were pleased to host the event that made another move forward in the dynamic history of Muscle Beach.

After 20 years of heat, salt and wind the equipment in the Weight Pen was replaced with a generous donation from Bodybuilding.com. In addition, the floor was removed and upgraded with a charitable contribution  from Head Blade.

Many thanks to Russ Deluca from Bodybuilding.com and Todd Green from HeadBlade for their magnificent insight. The new facility is comparable to any training facility that supports a strong training ethic.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Bill Rosendahl the 11th district Councilman for the City of Los Angeles. He recognized the generous donations of Russ and Todd when he presented them with Certificates of Appreciation from the Mayor and the City Council.

Following the ribbon cutting, five Plaques were unveiled on the Walk of Fame acknowledging the 2007 Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame Inductees. In attendance were Steve Most, representing his father DeForrest “Moe” Most, Franco Columbu and Jack LaLanne recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.  Unfortunately Tony Pearson and Pudgy Stockton’s family were unable to attend.

When the unveiling had been completed Jack LaLanne signed pictures for the huge crowd that was in attendance to witness this great moment.
